Knowledge Ecosystems and Growth

IFKAD 2019 Matera, Italy || 5 June 2019 - 7 June 2019

Purpose

The purpose of IFKAD 2019 was to understand the role of knowledge ecosystems to support growth and shape a sustainable future. Over the past decades, management scholars from different research perspectives have extensively explained the role of knowledge as a crucial driver for the competitiveness of organisational systems both at the micro and the macro level. At the 14th edition of IFKAD, we wished to extend our theories, findings and business discourses about the role and the dynamics of knowledge ecosystems and to what extent their formation and development affect the value creation capacity of organisations and institutional systems. We were looking for contributions to make IFKAD 2019 the forum where to advance our understanding of how to shape knowledge-based organisations to face business and socio-economic challenges.

Key Themes

  • What role can knowledge ecosystems (and their actors and components) play in positively affecting the social and financial growth of organisations, institutions, cities, regions, or global society?
  • How can knowledge ecosystems contribute to the progress of society through elevating the wealth, health and well-being of local and global communities?
  • How to create a successful knowledge ecosystem in an organisation?
  • What approaches, tools and models to capture and analyse knowledge dynamics in knowledge ecosystems?
  • What are the links between knowledge ecosystems and open innovation?
  • How do knowledge ecosystems foster business model innovation and digital transformation?
  • What knowledge-based strategic, managerial and organisational solutions can better respond to today’s business and managerial challenges and how they can positively impact on growth and well-being of private and public organisations and more widely, of the entire society?
  • What are the key factors charactesring the development and success of knowledge ecosystems?
  • Do knowledge ecosystems foster entrepreneurship development?
  • What is the role of universities in creating and supporting the development of knowledge ecosystems
  • Under what conditions do knowledge ecosystems’ activities and solutions transform the impact of current social and economic changes and challenges into positive effects for growth and well-being in their local and global communities?
  • What should knowledge ecosystems do differently to ensure growth and a better life?
